This is the image for the news article titled Track & Field Champs!Congratulations to the SRHS track & field program and 8th grader Garrett Miguel who is the first junior high school state track & field champion in school history!

Garrett’s time of 2:31.66 in the 800 meter run won him the CAA Division I State Championship. In addition to winning the top spot in the 800m, Miguel also placed in three sprints events including the 100m (5th place, 13.57); 200m (8th place, 29.89); and 400m (3rd place, 1:04.35). This spring Garrett was also named MVP of the HS baseball team and this winter won a JH wrestling state championship for the Eagles.

On the girls side of the JH state meet, 8th grader Alyssa Francisco placed 8th in the 100m hurdles, running 23.35.

Salt River High School track & field also proved worthy at ASU stadium this past Saturday as sophomore Hannah Reyes-Carmelo earned 4th and 8th place in the shot put (24-1) and discus (75-11) respectively, adding more state placers to what is becoming a solid girls throws team at SRHS.
